Monthly Book Recommendations

The monthly Book recommendation is a short blog post/ newsletter I write to you on what books I read in the previous month and what I’ll be reading next. This month I could read 5 books.

Books I read in September 2021:

  1. Rework by David Heinemeier Hansson and Jason Fried. If you are a business owner or plan to be one, this is a must read. Very simple and easy to read but yet filled with wisdom nuggets for entrepreneurs. From start up, employing, work culture, etc covers almost everything related to starting and running a business. But ofcourse reading business books doesn’t in no way qualify you for the job, you’ll have to start, and learn on the way. The author emphasize on the fact that why even small businesses are and can be a great business.
  2. High Performance habits by Brendon Burchard. Good book but lengthy. This book brings you clarity on what are the characteristics of a high performance habits. Clarity, energy, necessity, productivity, influence and courage. These are the things you’ve to work on, and you must adopt habits that brings you these qualities into your life.
  3. So Good They Can’t Ignore You by Cal Newport. A motivational book. This book tries to and successfully transforms your mindset into a positive and growth oriented one. The author argues and makes you believe that most of success comes from working, working towards constantly improving your craft or skill.
  4. How To Talk To Anyone by Leil Lowndes. Useful book but not all of it. And some tips are irrelevant or doesn’t work in a country like India. The author has written tips with western culture perspective. And especially for a country like India where we have a holistic clusters of regional languages and cultures, the tips and tricks seem completely irrelevant. But the principles he offers of how we are communicating even without speaking a word is very helpful. I hope I’ll find its usage in the future by actually trying and experimenting with the methods.
  5. Mindset by Dr.Carol Dweck.  A good book for beginners. If you are just diving into the world of self improvement, you must consider this book to be one of the first you read. However, it’s not that intersting for someone who’s already known about fixed and growth mindset and to someone who understands clearly the big picture, life. And moreover, when there is clarity, there’s no picture of fixed and growth mindset. You’ll always opt for what’s the best according to your awareness. And when your awareness is high, you’ll definitely choose growth. No question of fixed mindset there.

Enjoyed reading all of them. Now let’s come to my book list for next month.

Books I plan on reading next:

  1. The Everyday Hero Manifesto by Robin Sharma (The most anticipated).
  2. Attitude Is Everything
  3. Wellness Sense
  4. Power of positive thinking
  5. Influence
  6. Quiet

My Book Update:

  • Not so much work has been done in terms of words written. But definitely a decent amount of work done in terms of bridging the gap in between concepts by stitching the story together.
  • Got an idea for an emotional parallel connection in the story.
  • Got an idea to end the story with a surprise!
  • Got an idea to add an element of interest throughout the narration.
  • Totally, great going! I’m also researching about all the aspects of publishing, marketing, etc. And probably my book will be released on December or January.

Let me know what are you reading currently and what are your favorite books of all time!

Thank You,

Yours Loving,

Sanath Kumar Naibhi
