I’ve been writing one blog every week since May 2021. Like I mentioned in the blog 119: 6 Ways to take a break!, I broke that streak this year, after 118 blogs. Upon pondering about what may have caused that break, the answer was pretty simple actually. Initially, I thought I needed a break. Because like any resource, creative fuel too, exhausts and needs time to replenish or renew. I was right, but only partially. Taking a break really helped. But that was not the only reason.
Building and sticking to habits, or in other words, discipline is like my superpower [ read blog 122: What are your superpowers?] . Or you can call it the ability to act on my will. If I say I’ll wake up at 4:30 am every day, I will. As simple as that. That ability has given me a lot, over the years.
But still, I failed after writing consistently for 118 weeks, why? There’s a saying in Kannada that roughly translates to: “even an elephant’s legs slip”. Depicting myself as something higher than I am or as an elephant is not the objective here.
The point I’m trying to convey here is this, Why does the elephant slip? Because nature’s force acts equally to everything, and no one can master a nature’s force.
Chaos is also like nature’s force. We talked about this in the blog: Order & Chaos too. Chaos is inevitable. Maintaining order will always require effort. It will always be a strain. If you intend to move, you are at war with this force. Steven Pressfield calls this the force of Resistance. [ Also read 8 simple facts that help you beat resistance! ]
I hope this blog acts as a reminder of the fact that the war is never won. You need to battle every day. Win the battles. Only then there is movement. And movement is essential because as we all know, stagnation is worse than death. However, let this blog also remind you that, whenever you lose a battle, you may be too hard on yourself and beat yourself down, but please do not do that. Today’s battle may have been lost, but do not give up on the war itself, try to win the battle tomorrow, because losing this war means, giving up on your dreams, leaving your potential unrealized, services unserved, and life not lived.
Some very interesting and some very deep blogs will be coming out soon, stay tuned.
Thank You
