This is my first blog. I wanted this one to be about the beginning of my writing journey itself. It began a year ago, when I just started taking notes for whatever I felt was neccessary and important or something that was unique and insightful. This one habit started transforming my view on note taking, writing and overall, my perspective. I began noticing great and valuable insights from almost every conversation I had, every YouTube video I watched, every podcast I listened to, every movie I watched.
But it didn’t stop there, this one powerful habit, had such an impact on my consciousness that I started getting mindful about my thoughts and emotions. Started noticing patterns and great insights, wisdom nuggets just lying in my own brain!
So I continued taking notes of that too, almost trying to note each and every thought that was meaningful, unique to my perspective back then and sometimes few actionable and insightful wisdom nuggets.
Now its been more than a year of doing just that and now I see my notes on my phones, all to be surprised as to how much I’ve written, everything from just a random thought to very valuable and insightful wisdom nuggets. My perspective or in other words – my world view has tranformed and evolved a lot. And also have the added benefit of having a stack of notes which is more than enough to write a book, which I can look back to and share with you here.
It’s almost like a blind person gets his vision, I can now See!
OK, what’s the take away for you from this? It’s the power of habit, how just only one keystone habit can transform your life and also the power of writing, or let’s just say for now as the power of note-taking. Because I just told you my story and my journey and how that one keystone habit of note-taking helped me a lot, not to mention the journaling I’m doing for years now. Journaling is also a great way to start writing, but I lost it because of my inconsistent effort towards that habit.
If there is one thing you take away from this blog, then it is start taking notes, start writing everything from the content you consume to the thousands of thoughts you are bombarded with everyday. And remember – “Consuming is good only if you can measure and reflect upon what you consume.” By the way, that’s from my notes. : )
